Justin Taylor provides a link to all the videos of the Christian Book Expo. The debate “Does the God of Christianity exist, and what difference does it make?” includes Douglas Wilson’s discussion with Christopher Hitchens (Bill Craig and Strobel included in the discussion).
I have two blogs to recommend:
The first is Dee Dee Warren’s Preterist Blog. Dee Dee also has a podcast where she works her way through Matthew 24. This is an excellent resource for Orthodox Preterism.
The second is the American Conservative blog. This is a blog dedidated to paleo-conservative thought in the tradition of Pat Buchanan and Ron Paul.
Kevin Johnson has a thoughtful critique of the Nine Marks phenomenon.
This tends to confirm my thoughts on the emerging trend of many soteriologic calvinistic Baptistic churches to find common ground with southern Presbyterians. And the southern Presbyterians return the favor by joining hands in dozens of conferences. Since there is no sacramental unity, this marriage is bound to occur.
Calvin’s understanding of what constitutes a healthy Reformed church is a more biblical model:
“Wherever we see the Word of God purely preached and heard, and the sacraments administered according to Christ’s institution, there, it is not to be doubted, a church of God exists. … If it has the ministry of the Word and honors it, if it has the administration of the sacraments, it deserves without doubt to be held and considered a church. For it is certain that such things are not without fruit” (Calvin, Institutes, IV.i.9).
These awards are granted to those who have influenced my thinking over the last twelve months of 2007.
Best Political Blog of the Year:
Lewrockwell.com – This website has shaped much of my political philosophy in 2007.
Best Theological Blog of the Year:
dougwils.com – This was a difficult decision. Nevertheless, Wilson captivated my attention with insightful comments on many topics.
Best Economic Blog of the Year:
mises.org/blog – Following the tradition of the great Austrian economist Ludwig Von Mises, Mises.org looks through all the economic debates and filters it through a free-market approach. Bravo!
Best News Blog:
lewrockwell.com – Another award for the tireless bunch at Lew Rockwell. They are competent and have incurred the wrath of a former Communist. This alone wins my support.
