Fox News and Ron Paul

One of the first things Russian president Vladimir Putin did in his ruthless exercise of power was to drive media moguls in charge of the fairly new “free press” into exile and put his loyalists in charge of Russia’s fledgling media outlets. His goal, as has been reported by many print journalists is to “Restore Russia to greatness and consolidate his power.” He sees the two as “inextricably connected” according to the magazine This Week. (December 21st) Controlling the free exchange of ideas is Stalin-esque right? Can we all agree on that?

Paul’s 10% and other thoughts

Paul’s 10% was not the glorious ending enthusiasts like myself expected, but on the other hand he reached the double digit number Fox said he would not reach. Will they still exclude him from the debate?

Another interesting dimension of the Iowa Caucus is that the independent vote went indisputably to Ron Paul with 29% in the Republican side and Barack won unanimously on the Democratic side. This may have severe ramifications for the New Hampshire primary where independent voters generally play a significant role.

Paul’s campaign needs to use all its energy and the millions in hand to invest in New Hampshire. If Ron Paul secures a third place in New Hampshire he will continue strong until February 5th. However, if he ends in 4th or 5th it will be difficult to carry on the enthusiasm. Here comes the Revolution to the Live Free or Die state!

Go to Drudge Now…

On Drudge there are two prominent links that favor Ron Paul. The first talks about the new records reached by the gold standard. Yes, that ancient commodity that never loses its value. Thank you Dr. Paul for teaching us about a true currency system. The second link on Drudgereport poses the question: Ron Paul fundraising king? Paul’s remarkable $20 million fund-raising is far above all other Republicans and closer to Hillary Clinton’s imperial campaign.

Perhaps Drudge will also report on Paul’s strong placing in the Iowa caucus.

Covenant News on Ron Paul’s Right to Life Ammendment…

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA — Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ron Paul, an OB/GYN who has delivered over 4,000 babies, issued the following statement in support of state efforts to pass “Right to Life” amendments:

“The right of an innocent, unborn child to life is at the heart of the American ideals of liberty. My professional and legislative record demonstrates my strong commitment to this pro-life principle.

“Under our Constitution, the states have the duty to protect citizens against murder, and protecting the unborn from having their right to life violated is no exception.

“I find it unconscionable that the Supreme Court overrules states when they pass pro-life legislation. As president, I will fight to end this judicial tyranny.

“Many talk about being pro-life. In Congress, I am the lead sponsor of HR 2597 the ‘Sanctity of Life Act’ and a similar bill, HR 300 the ‘We the People Act.’ Both bills would negate the effect of Roe v Wade by removing the ability of federal courts to interfere with state legislation that protects life. My bills could pass by a simple majority vote and allow states such as Michigan and South Carolina to end abortion immediately.

“I challenge every candidate who claims to be pro life to support these bills to get the Supreme Court out of the life issue so states can quickly and constitutionally protect the unborn.” Full story

John Zogby says Ron Paul will surprise…

This is probably the most prestigious compliments coming out of the media. It comes from someone who has studied and researched polls for many years. These are Zogby’s comments about Ron Paul:

Ron Paul: He’s going to do better than anyone expects. Look to Paul to climb into the double-digits in Iowa. Why? He’s different, he stands out. He’s against the war and he has the one in four Republicans who oppose the war all to himself. Libertarianism is hot, especially among free-market Republicans and 20-somethings. And he’s an appealing sort of father figure. He’s his own brand. All he needs to do is beat a couple of big names in Iowa, then New Hampshire is friendlier territory. After all, the state motto is “Live Free or Die.”

Ron Paul closing up on Giuliani in Iowa…

As Hillary Clinton appears to be breaking away from the pack, the Republican race in Iowa may be tightening up. A week ago, an ARG poll placed Mike Huckabee over Mitt Romney by an 11-point margin among likely Republican caucus-goers, but the latest poll by the group puts the two back in a statistical tie, 23 to 21 percent. John McCain has 17 percent of the vote, Rudy Giuliani has 14 percent — and Ron Paul has 10 percent in the latest poll, up from 4 percent last week.
