This Saturday, the Pastors of Providence Church will offer a class on the distinctives of our congregation. Among them, is our commitment to a postmillennial eschatology. For some attending the class, this be rather new, since they have for very long imbibed of dispensational categories. Our starting definition of postmil thinking is one I have used often from Kenneth Gentry:
“Postmillennialism is the view that Christ will return to the earth after the Spirit-blessed Gospel has had overwhelming success in bringing the world to the adoption of Christianity.”
The implications of this thinking are significant to how we worship and view our roles in society as ambassadors and evangelists: both representing and verbalizing the claims of King Jesus.
