LeRoy Collins is seeking desperately to have Catherine Harris drop from her race for a Senate seat. According to Mr. Collins, he has a better chance of being elected. In his website, he poses himself as a typical Republican poster boy…meaning an appearance of strength, but a reality of weakness. His position concerning abortion is as follows:
As a United States Senator, I would vote to ban the horrific procedure known as partial-birth abortion. Additionally, I would support common-sense legislation requiring parental consent, a 24-hour waiting period, and spousal notification, among others.
Yesterday he had thirty minutes to present a reasonable case to the people of Florida and to answer some pertinent questions in the minds of Floridians. Bud Hedinger from AM540 here in Orlando asked a simple question regarding abortion. His first answer was to say that he is Pro-Life. “Great to hear,” I uttered under my breath. Then he said the unspeakable, “however, I would not want to overturn Roe v. Wade.” Wait a minute! Now you lost me! Abortion is morally wrong, but since the “law” –which by the way is no law at all,–says that it is ok, therefore LeRoy Collins has nothing more to say. I oppose abortion, but favor its continuance. Floridians: eject this political imbecile from your minds.
