The Sunday After Election

On November 13th (first Sunday post-election outcome), it would be lovely to see churches all over this country filled with enthusiastic worshipers. It would be a delight for pastors to see their people coming to Church eager to hear what saith the Lord. It would be a boost of Psalmic proportion to see people who at one time came to church unexpecting suddenly realize that they need God more than anything else. It would be a national declaration of trust to hear on-line political scholars declare: “My princes have failed. Only the Prince of Peace can give me true rest.” It would be unimaginable, but a hopeful longing to see those who have invested, debated, fought, argued, lost their temper, opined concerning every political minutia to show up on that Sunday and loudly declare with the saints: “We believe in One God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth.” It would be a dream to see people realize that our fundamental duty on earth is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. It would be a perfect outcome to see the called-out ones humble themselves and pray and seek God’s face and turn from their wicked ways, then God will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. What a Sunday that would be!
