Worship is Hard

As we have been saying for years and some of you testify to it now, worship is hard! Whereas some traditions see only the music as worship or only the sermon as worship, we see all of Covenant Renewal as worship. This means it’s harder, more demanding, and more tiring. And after 70 minutes, you have stretched almost every part of your body.

Worship is the exact opposite of what we would expect. Wouldn’t it be easier to be a spectator while the guys up front do all the work? Wouldn’t it be easier to be a passive member? The answer is that we are not called to do the easier. Worship is practice for resurrection life in the world to come. Life in the here and now is demanding. Even the resurrected life in the re-created world will not allow you to remain passive in worship. Worship will always demand your body and soul.

So, let’s use this holy worship as another preparation for resurrection worship in eternity.
