Make the best case for your vote! Validate, justify, rationalize and proselytize. But you cannot, CANNOT assert that we are to set aside our Christian principles in the process. If you do so, you are overlooking the fundamental pre-commitment we have to the God of Scriptures. Ben Carson’s statement that “Sometimes you put your Christian values on pause to get the work done” is a reflection of the ethos we are breathing in the evangelical world. We live in a political environment where our candidates are less than ideal which does not mean we think less biblically about politics or avoid biblical principles, but this should cause us rather think more stringently about the way our Christian citizenship informs our calling in the City of Man.
